IPL Intense Pulsed Light for Rosacea, Thread Veins, Pigmentation and Acne

Through several years of research and from experiencing ourselves the benefits of using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light, also known as Photorejuvenation) on rosacea, pigmentation and acne, we discovered its numerous applications to several skin complaints. Essentially, using the intense pulse of light to penetrate the lower layers of skin this cuts off the excessive blood supply from the target areas. Excessive blood supply to the skin creates a number of problems such as thread veins and dilated blood vessels which cause rosacea. IPL has been discovered to reduce visible redness and eventually eradicates it all together.

In the treatment of acne, combined with a specific set of cosmeceutical products and supplements IPL can be used on those acne-ridden areas. The light is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood vessels that feed the sebaceous glands. The haemoglobin converts the light energy into heat which then damages the walls of the vessels supplying blood to the glands and reduces the production of acne in the skin. This technique is called Selective Photothermolysis (Photorejuvenation).

IPL for excess or unwanted hair

IPL lasers emit a small pulse of light into the skin, penetrating the first layer and therefore treating lower layers of skin, targeting the pigmentation that causes excess hair. This treatment is a gentle approach to hair removal – the laser used will feel warm to the touch and the pulse will create a small and brief pinching sensation whilst the laser targets an area of hair follicles. Depending on the area and quantity of hair you require removing, you will be recommended a course of treatments during a free consultation. IPL is not suitable for darker skin and works best on darker hair colours for hair removal. As it targets the living hair root it is not possible to wax in between treatments but shaving is perfectly acceptable.

This is also a highly effective method of handling ingrowing hair which may have been caused by shaving. Ingrowing hair can be incredibly painful and thanks to IPL technology it can now be effectively handled.
